Scam phone calls for elderly?

this is just a fun question for everyone. My Grandma recieve a lot of scams calls people are syaing we want to go to your house and give you money and from other countries and really scared her so my mom finally change her phone number for her. anyone experience the same situation and how did you handle all those scams calls? I was thinking of getitng a caller ID for my grnadma might help but the problem she have alzhemer so I am afraid she might forget who is calling her if she the number on the screen even I write down the number for her to match the number for her on the piece of paper. if you have any other better ideals would be helpful thank you advance. Matt|||Matt,

Get your Grandma on the %26quot;National Do Not Call%26quot; list.

Caller ID also is great. If she does not know the number than she doesn%26#039;t have to answer the call.|||Most states have a %26quot;take your number off the list%26quot; bank..look it up|||Get her on the %26quot;do not call%26quot; list right away http://www.donotcall.gov/ but that will not stop scammers.

Get her an answering machine with caller ID. Teach her to screen the calls, to listen to them and only pick up the phone if she recognizes the caller. Call your phone company about blocking number that have the caller ID information blocked. There is away to do that - might cost extra.

Lastly, when it comes to listing your telephone number in the phone book, you can list it under any name you%26#039;d like. Don%26#039;t list it under her name - list it under some other name. Suppose her name is %26quot;Sally%26quot; and you list it under %26quot;Veronica%26quot;. Then she knows anybody who calls for Veronica doesn%26#039;t know her. Or list it under %26quot;Bob%26#039;s Plumbing%26quot;, so scammers won%26#039;t think it is a home.|||You got good answers from the other two. Could you have her calls forwarded to your mother or another trusted family member? You could turn the phone ringer off and let her friends know what is happening and that they could phone at a certain time. I wish you luck. This is a sticky situation for her dignity and your piece of mind.|||Matt, you are a dear to watch out over your grandmother in that way. If you think she is vulnerable, you may want to suggest to your mother that she becomes a co-signer on her bank savings account so that she cannot withdraw a large amount of money without someone else%26#039;s approval. She%26#039;ll want to keep a small amount in her checking account so that she still has the ability to pay for normal day-to-day expenses independently. But, no one should be able to %26quot;tap%26quot; into her savings without the co-signer%26#039;s approval. The bank should also be told to inform your mother of any unusual transactions on any of her accounts. Good luck Matt.|||Here%26#039;s one I got today. ringy dingy:%26quot;Hello is this ?????. Yes, who is this? %26quot;This is ???? and I%26#039;m a fnn rsr with sfjiie.%26quot; You%26#039;re WHO?

Did you say FUND RAISER!!!?%26quot; I began laughing hysterically.

Security, I have NO FUNDS%26quot; He said,%26quot;I%26#039;m

sorry ma%26#039;am%26quot; and hung up.

My end was the truth, but now I think it%26#039;s a

good way to get rid of them.|||Since I have been on the do not call list i get very few junk calls.
