If you changed your number plate and done a petrol run, How could they trace it to you?

My friend was stuck up in leeds (big break up). He had to get back to Swansea with no money so, thought he would be smart. He changed F to a E and something else, filled up and drove off. Hes now back home and three weeks later gets a phone call of the police officer in charge telling him he got until sunday to get back to leeds otherwise an arrest warrent will be put out for him.

How did they trace it back?If you changed your number plate and done a petrol run, How could they trace it to you?lets say your friends car is a red ford escort, the police will PNC the false number plate, it comes back as a yellow minnie in Liverpool, well they know its not that so they simply ask the computer for a red ford escort that is a near match

and just like magic up pops your mates car

Its not difficult to guess that they reversed the E back to an F in their head.

PNC will allow for %26quot;close matches%26quot; or %26quot;partial matches%26quot; within a search

quite easy really . they changed the E to an F . NOT very smart your friend .
not very clever is he
his face will be on camera

also, perhaps the number he changed it to does not exist. a computer could look for a similar number on his model of car.

it is perhaps worth knowing that if you do not have a way to pay for the fuel you can fill in a form and send them the payment later. eg if you %26quot;forget%26quot; your credit card
that is so funny he must think the police zip up the back then again he is welsh, only used to filling up sheep after all
The police are smart.

Your friend isn't.
Good.
