How to change your verizon phone but keep the same number?

I just got a new prepaid verizon phone and I want to keep my same number. I've tried to change it online but I keep getting error messages. I don't want to call customer service if I can help it because the last couple of times I've called, they haven't been helpful. Any idea on what I can do so I can activate my new phone?

(make sure your old phone is turned off while you're doing this.) then you just need to enter your phone number when it asks for it and follow any other instructions.

i think you can dial *228 on the phone you want and listen to the options pick the one for switching or programing phones fallow the directions that's it. It worked for my phone but im on a plan im not sure it will work for prepaid. good luck

Maybe try a few more times online. If that fails maybe you could go to a verizon store and have someone there help you?...If not you will have to call or maybe see if a friend will call for you and maybe they will have better luck.
